When the Harvest Comes: by Denne Michele Norris
A story on forgiveness in the face of betrayal
When the Harvest Comes by Denne Michele Norris is probably one of the best novels I have read this year. At its core, When the Harvest Comes focuses on the importance of forgiveness in the face of hurt or betrayal. Norris’ beautifully written debut takes you on a journey through forgiveness, self-love and redemption by unraveling the fractured and estranged relationship between its protagonist, Davis, and his father, The Reverend. Jumping between past vignettes and present moments, this is a story centered on what it means to reckon with the past in an effort to find peace and joy in the present.
